Aalim Hakim, the celebrity hairstylist known for styling stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, Virat Kohli, Aditya Roy Kapur, Allu Arjun, and Vicky Kaushal, among others, recently faced backlash after revealing that his sons, Sky and Star, follow ‘Humanity’ as their religious identity. Reacting to the criticism, Aalim shared his son Star’s birth certificate on his Instagram to hit back at the trolls.
Aalim wrote, “This is for the people who are debating on my recent podcast about what is their Surname in birth certificates and what is their religion. So let me tell you that we have given them full freedom to choose whatever surname they want to choose and whatever religious path they want to follow…They are born as individual personalities and should have full individual right as a human to follow what they like.”

Aalim shared that she and her wife teach their sons morals, ethics, values in life, and the importance of loving everyone equally. He further expressed that Sky and Star should create their own principles to lead life, where nobody is divided and everyone is treated the same under the same sky.

In his podcast with Mamaarazzi, Aalim shared that his wife comes from a Sikh Sardar family, while he belongs to a Muslim, Islamic background. He shared that when they got married, he didn’t ask her to change her religion, surname, or passport. Aalim told his wife that their children would follow humanity as their religion, and they would not identify as either Sikh or Muslim, and would be free to choose their religion.
Further, Aalim said that they will teach their children about all religions and beliefs, but will never force them to choose any particular religion. Instead, they will allow them to make their own decisions. “If you come to our house, then my kids will greet you. They will greet you and they will touch your feet, say aadab, Alaikum Assalam, say Sat Sri Akaal,” he added.
