Pakistan Returns BSF Jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw After 20 Days At Attari-Wagah Border | X

Kolkata: Celebration started in Rishra in Hooghly district after an arrested BSF constable who was arrested by Pakistan Rangers came back to India on Wednesday.

Talking to the media, Rajni Shaw, wife of the BSF constable said that she had received a call from the BSF office and later she got to talk to her husband.

“After I spoke with my husband, I told him to place a video call. He said that he was perfect and didn’t receive any injuries. Our Chief Minister had called me and referred to my husband as her brother. I am very happy. I have no objections if he continues with BSF. I want him to serve the country,” said Rajni.

Notably, BSF constable PK Shaw on Wednesday morning came back to India through Attari border in Amritsar. Following medical check-ups, he will soon come back to West Bengal.

The parents of the BSF constable who were seen distributing sweets also mentioned that they don’t have any problem if PK Shaw continues serving the country.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the entire country is ‘happy’ over the release of the BSF jawan.

“We had been in touch with BSF Jawan Purnam Shaw’s wife Rajni throughout and spoke to her 4-5 times. Consistent efforts were made from our end. Our DGP was in continuous touch with his BSF counterpart. I told Rajni the day before yesterday that her husband was healthy and doing well. However, the modalities of his release operation would take some time…He was released this morning. I am happy. His family is happy. The entire country is happy,” said Mamata.

Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari after visiting BSF headquarters in Kolkata also visited the house of the BSF jawan in Rishra and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the return of the BSF jawan.
