In a bid to strengthen the support system available to students preparing for higher education, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be organising an orientation programme for principals and counsellors of its affiliated schools.

Scheduled to take place on 17 April, the session will focus on providing an understanding of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), its structure, and its implications for undergraduate admissions across central universities and other participating institutions.

“As the CUET continues to play a pivotal role in determining entry into undergraduate courses, the CBSE recognises the crucial position that school leaders and career counsellors hold in guiding students through this complex and evolving process. With this in mind, the upcoming orientation has been carefully designed to equip educators with the knowledge and tools necessary to support their students more effectively,” read a circular by CBSE.

The session will explore the detailed structure of CUET, offering insights into its examination pattern, the variety of subject choices available to students, and the marking scheme employed. It will also shed light on how CUET scores are utilised by various universities during their admissions process, helping educators understand the growing significance of this national-level entrance examination.

Moreover, the programme aims to empower principals and counsellors with effective strategies for student guidance, covering aspects such as application procedures, preparation techniques, and selecting appropriate universities.

By fostering a deeper understanding of CUET among school administrators and counsellors, the Board aims to facilitate a smoother and more informed transition for students moving from secondary education to university life.
