The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday announced an extension for online applications under its Merit Scholarship Schemes. The revised deadline applies to both fresh applications and renewals for the Single Girl Child Scholarship.
This scholarship scheme, aimed at encouraging education for single girl children, provides financial support to meritorious female students. Eligible candidates can submit their applications for the 2024 scheme or renew scholarships awarded in 2023 until 10th January 2025. Schools are required to verify the applications by 17th January 2025.
To be eligible, applicants must be the only child of their parents, have secured at least 60% marks in the CBSE Class 10 Examination, and be enrolled in Class 11 or 12 at a CBSE-affiliated institution. The programme offers tuition fee support up to ₹1,500 per month, with a 10% annual increase for higher classes. For Non-Resident Indian (NRI) students, the tuition fee cap is ₹6,000 per month.
The CBSE has confirmed that the other eligibility criteria and application processes remain unchanged.
