From next year, CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) is planning to conduct class 10 board examinations twice a year. Under this, the duration of the examination can be reduced from a month to two weeks or even. Currently, the examination schedule is drawn up to a month due to students giving adequate gaps between different subjects. Sometimes there is a difference of 3 to 10 days between two papers. This year too, the CBSE 10th board exams start from February 15 to 18 March.

The exam period will be short, not even a day’s gap!

According to the report of the Indian Express, if the plan to conduct the examination twice a year is applicable, the board will have to reduce the gap between the papers, possibly only one day. With this, the exam will be completed in a week or maximum 10 days. Also, all results can be declared by June, so that the next academic session can start smoothly.

Recently, a meeting of CBSE, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and NCERT officials chaired by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was discussed, in which the issue was discussed. The Ministry of Education has asked the CBSE to prepare a draft of the scheme and take public feedback.

First 10th exams will be twice, 12th decision will be decided later

Examination timeframe will remain the same

CBSE board exams begin in February, and this deadline will continue in the examination system twice a year. However, in some states, there may be difficulties in conducting the examination first due to the harsh winter.

CBSE possible exam schedule options

CBSE is considering these two options to conduct the exam twice:

  1. The first exam is completed by March, and the result should be declared two months ago instead of May.
  2. The second exam should be conducted in early May, and the results should be declared in June.

New exam system will be implemented from 2026-27

In January this year, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had said that the plan to conduct the examination twice a year will be applicable from the academic session of 2026-27. Along with this, it is also being planned to implement semester systems in class 11th and 12th.

Changes under National Education Policy (NEP)

To implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, it was recommended in the NCF (National Curriculum Framework) that students should get permission to take board exams twice a year, and only the best score should be included in the final marksheet. .
