Karnataka News: A complaint has been filed against Mahant Kumar Chandrashekarnath Swami of Vishva Vokkaliga Mahasmasthan Math for his remarks regarding depriving Muslims of voting rights. Police gave this information on Friday. Mahant made this statement at a meeting organized by the Bharatiya Kisan Union here on Tuesday against the notice of Karnataka Waqf Board.

Police said that based on the complaint of a social worker, a complaint was registered against Mahant at Upparpet police station here on Wednesday. We have registered a case against him under section 299 of the Indian Penal Code (intentional or malicious act intended to insult any class or religion or religious beliefs and to outrage religious feelings).

What did the Mahant say?

Urging everyone to unite to protect farmers and their land, Swamiji reportedly said, ‘There should be a law in which Muslims do not have the right to vote.’

He reportedly said, ‘It should be decided that there should be no Waqf Board. Grabbing someone else’s land is not religion. Everyone should fight against the injustice being done to farmers. It is being said that Waqf Board can claim anyone’s land. This is a huge injustice. Therefore, it should be decided that the land of the farmers should remain with them.

While clarifying his statement on Wednesday, Swamiji said, ‘His tongue slipped. Muslims are also citizens of the country and they also have the right to vote like others.
