Indore Shines At Cannes: Cardiac Physiotherapist-Turned-Advocate Debuts At Cannes Vietnam |
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): City’s Dr Nikita Kushwaha, a cardiac and respiratory physiotherapist by profession, has once again brought pride to her hometown on the global stage.
Fresh off her triumph as first runners up at the Mrs Universe pageant, she debuted this year at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival’s Vietnam edition, spotlighting both Indian talent and pressing social causes.
Educated in Indore, Dr Kushwaha has always balanced her medical career with community service, championing women’s health and education through numerous social campaigns. At Cannes, she represented India’s film and arts community, using the platform to raise awareness about gender equality and female empowerment.
Her striking “fair goddess of spring” gown—designed by a renowned Vietnamese couturier—took three months and fifty artisans to complete. Adorned entirely with handcrafted crystals and intricate hand?stitched detailing, the gown symbolises the fusion of art, dedication and cultural exchange.
Among filmmakers, artists and critics from around the world, Dr Nikita’s poise and passion stood out. She demonstrated that a doctor’s impact can transcend hospitals: by engaging with creative industries, she is helping to drive positive social change. Currently in Vietnam, she continues to network with international peers and explore collaborative opportunities that bridge healthcare, arts, and philanthropy.
