Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The personal assistant to state cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya was stabbed by a cab driver thrice following a dispute over luggage under Palasia police station limits on Monday. The police arrested the accused and seized the knife used in the crime along with the car.

The incident occurred outside the victim’s residence in Saket area around 12:30 pm when a dispute broke out between the driver and the victim Ravi Vijayvargiya over putting extra luggage in the car.

ACP Tushar Singh said that Ravi Vijayvargiya had booked a cab through Uber as his sons needed to travel to the railway station. An argument broke out between the driver Shailesh Ahirwar and the victim over putting extra luggage in the car which later turned heated.

The driver attacked him with a knife and stabbed him in the hand and lower abdomen. He was rushed to the hospital where his condition is said to be stable.

The police have arrested the cab driver and sent him to jail after registering a case against him under relevant sections of BNS. The police also seized the knife used in the attack and the car.

Congress raises question

Congress state spokesperson Neelabh Shukla said, “The attack on Kailash Vijayvargiya’s personal assistant by a cab driver is a matter of serious concern. If people closely associated with public representatives are not safe, how can the common people feel secure? This raises a major question.

Despite the fact that the city’s in-charge is the chief minister himself and the home department is also under him, the continuous crimes, disregarding the commissionerate system, clearly indicate that criminals are fearless and have no fear of the police or administration.”
