BYJU’S, the edtech start-up that was started by Kerala-based mathematics teacher-turned-entrepreneur Byju Raveendran, was once at the pinnacle of the edtech landscape. The company has possibly seen it all—the positive, euphoric ascent and the eventual, gradual and catastrophic descent.

‘We Will Rise’

As the company looks down the barrel, the company’s founder, who was ousted from the scheme of things of the company, has taken to X, formerly Twitter, to share a message.

In a cryptic post on the social media platform, Byju Raveendran said, “Broke, not Broken. We will rise again.”

This post carried a an old photograph of him standing, possibly giving a throwback into the time when it all started for him.

BYJUS Founder Joins X

This comes just two days after the embattled entrepreneur joined the social media platform for the first time.

Previously, after joining the platform, in his first post on March 28, the founder of the company, which was once valued at USD 22 billion said, “Nothing is ever as good as it seems, nor as bad as they make you believe. The truth usually lies somewhere in between. So I’m here to talk about the last 20 years: the good 17, the bad 2 & the ugly 1. No filters. Only facts.”

A day later, Raveendran shared another post, talking about his company’s journey and what he intends to do from here on.

“Number systems have always fascinated me as a math teacher. I have fond memories of seeing my students’ eyes light up when they discovered the patterns & cyclicity of numbers. And of all the numbers I have worked with, my favourite is 215,000.”, he added.

In his remark, he added that over nine years, the company hired 215,000 fresh graduates, each with a minimum fixed salary of 6 lakh.

What is Cooking?

According to him, BYJU’S was built by the said 2 lakh freshers with zero experience, exceptional talent & “infinite energy”.

They went on to become productive members of our great economy. Some became entrepreneurs & created jobs. All they needed was that first elusive opportunity.

Talking about the purported relaunch of the company, he said, “Once we relaunch our company – which I believe will happen sooner than expected – we will rehire exclusively from our incredible pool of former BYJUites. My hyper-optimism may seem crazy to some. But let’s not forget that you have to be odd to be number one.”
Byju Raveendran left India as the company’s fortune started crumbling in 2023. As per reports, he moved to Dubai, which, according to him, was for the treatment of his father.
