The first session of today saw heavy selling in IT and auto shares and fast purchases in pharma stocks in today’s first session after the US announced 26 percent mutual fee on India.
Between these developments, the Sensex closed down 322 points, while the Nifty closed below the level of 23,300. On the other hand, midcap and smallcap stocks saw a surge. Experts say that the adverse effects of these measures on the Indian stock market were limited as the fees levied by the US on India were less than other countries. IT companies, which receive a large part of their revenue from the US, and auto companies, which exported a lot to the US, were sold in shares, while the shares of the region rose due to the pharma industry being kept out of mutual tariff.
