The Adani Group and Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) in Bhutan have signed a historic MoU (MoU) to jointly develop a 5,000 MW hydroelectric capacity project in Bhutan. A memorandum was signed by the DGPC in the presence of Prime Minister Dasho Chering Tobge, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Leonpo Gem Cherring and other senior dignitaries. The MoU was signed by Naresh Telugu, COO of Adani Green Hydro Limited, Managing Director Dasho Chewang Rin and Adani Green Hydro Limited (PSP & Hydro).

The MoU is based on the existing cooperation for the 570/900 MW Wangchu Hydroelectric Project, with DGPC’s 51% majority stake and Adani will have a 49% stake. This huge initiative of 5,000 MW will include identifying additional hydroelectric and pump storage projects, for which a detailed project report will be prepared and their implementation will be carried forward in a phased manner.
The COO of Adani Green Hydro Limited, PSP and Hydro, Naresh Telugu said, “This partnership reflects our strong commitment to the development of clean energy infrastructure and enhances regional energy security. Together with DGPC, we are able to exploit India to export credible green energy to Bhutan.
