Bus Carrying Maha Kumbh Devotees From Raipur Collied With Truck; 1 Dead, Several Injured (Screengrab) | X/ANI

Raipur: In a tragic incident, at least one person died after a bus carrying devotees from Raipur to the Maha Kumbh 2025 in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj collided with a truck on Tuesday night. According to reports, the the bus rammed into the truck which was standing in the middle of the road at the Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh border in Pendra.

Meanwhile, several people have been injured. After receiving the information, authorities rushed to the spot. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital. In the visuals shared by news agency ANI, it could be seen that the bus rammed into the truck from behind.

As per the Pendra SDOP Shyam Sidar, the accident took place as the truck was parked in the middle of the road. An investigation has been launched into the matter.

“A bus travelling from Raipur collided with a backdown trailer loaded with coal, that was standing at the Anuppur-Chhattisgarh border. Many devotees have been injured, and one has died. The injured have been referred to the Anuppur District Hospital,” Sidar told ANI.

“The accident happened because the truck was parked in the middle of the road… Highway patrolling is investigating the matter. The accident happened late at night,” he added.

Pendra SDOP Shyam Sidar’s Statement:

Last week, t least 10 pilgrims travelling to Maha Kumbh died after their the car collided with a bus in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. The incident took place on Friday night. he devotees were reportedly travelling from Chhattisgarh. According to reports, 19 people were also injured in the accident. The accident took place on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur highway
