Jasprit Bumrah: Today the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the new rankings. In which, on the first day of the new year, Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has created history. Bumrah has now reached the top position in the ICC Test bowling rankings. Apart from this, its rating points have also increased to 907. This is a historical record in itself. Bumrah became the first Indian bowler to get so many rating points.

 

Bumrah moved ahead leaving Ashwin behind

He has broken the record of former spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Earlier, Ashwin had achieved the highest rating point of 904 in December 2016. Bumrah’s brilliant performance in the Test series against Australia has now benefited him in the ICC rankings. Apart from this, with 907 rating points, Bumrah has reached joint 17th position with England spinner Derek Underwood in the all-time list. England fast bowlers Sydney Barnes (932) and George Lohman (931) top the list. While Imran Khan (922) and Muttiah Muralitharan (920) are at third and fourth position.

 

Bumrah’s brilliant performance against Australia

Bumrah is the bowler taking the most wickets in the series so far. He took maximum 30 wickets in 8 innings of 4 test matches. In which his average was 12.83. After him is Pat Cummins who has taken 20 wickets. Bumrah has benefited greatly from this performance. Bumrah also performed brilliantly in the third Gabba Test of the series. He took 6 wickets for 76 runs in the first innings and 3 wickets for 18 runs in the second innings. Bumrah took 8 wickets in the first test of the series and 4 wickets in the second test.

Here let us tell you that the Indian team is currently on Australia tour. Where a 5-match Test series is being played between the two teams under the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Out of which the fourth match was played in Melbourne. In this fourth match, Australia won by 184 runs. At present the Australian team is leading 2-1 in the series. Now the last test will be played in Sydney from January 3.
