Navi Mumbai: Koparkhairane police has registered a case against the builder at whose construction site the seven year old boy had drowned to death on Wednesday evening, while playing. The construction company against whom the case is registered has been identified as Kini builders.
“The builder had not barricaded the pit at the construction site and had no security guard there. The pit was filled with water and was a threat to the lives knowing which he was negligent in providing any safety,” senior police inspector Audumber Patil said. The police are yet to trace the builder and the contractor.
The boy identified as Ankit Pansing Thangunna died after falling into a 15 by 8 foot deep pit, filled with water. Thangunna who lived in Koparkhairane Sector-5, was a student at Jijamata Convent School in Sector-4.
On Wednesday evening, after returning home from school, he went out to play with the other children in the area. While playing near a municipal school, Ankit lost his balance and fell into a pit dug for construction.
The children playing with him immediately informed their parents, and local residents rushed to the spot. They pulled Ankit out of the pit, which had water in it, and rushed him to Vashi general hospital. However, the doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Initially a case of accidental death was reported after which a FIR was registered against the builder. Father of the boy, Pansing Ghansing Thangunna (38), who worked as a watchman, registered the case with Koparkhairane police.
