BSF Jawans Respond to Attack by Miscreants at Indo-Bangladesh Border in Cooch Behar, Seize Contraband and Rescue Smuggled Goods | Representative image

Kolkata: BSF jawans were attacked by unknown miscreants at Mathabhanga in Cooch Behar district near Indo-Bangladesh border. According to BSF sources, the BSF jawans had to open fire for self-defence while they were being attacked.

On the other hand, BSF jawans had foiled illegal border crossing attempts and many smuggling bids with their vigilance and strict monitoring on the Indo-Bangladesh border.

In various operations, 02 illegal Bangladeshi and 03 Indian citizens were caught illegally crossing the Indian border. BSF has also seized 535 banned Phensedyl bottles, 400 strips of Tapentadol and rescued 2 cattle and 100 pigeons from the clutches of smugglers.

According to a statement issued by BSF, the arrested illegal Bangladeshis and Indians have been handed over to Dhantala Police Station for further action while the seized goods have been handed over to the concerned department. The rescued cattle were handed over to Dhyan Foundation after e-tagging and the pigeons handed over to Forest Department Basirhat.
