The Directorate General of Border Security Force (BSF) has introduced significant updates to the selection process for various recruitment categories through a Corrigendum notice issued on November 20. The changes affect multiple recruitment drives for 2024, including Group B and C positions in areas such as Inspector (Librarian), SMT Workshop, Veterinary Staff, Paramedical Staff, Air Wing, Water Wing, and Engineering Setup.
New Phased Selection Process
The revised process involves three distinct phases, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of candidates for the advertised positions.
Phase 1: Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Physical Standard Test (PST): Candidates will undergo evaluations for height, chest, and weight based on criteria detailed in the official advertisement. This test will be conducted by a designated selection board.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Successful candidates from the PST will proceed to the PET, which tests endurance and physical fitness required for the job.
Phase 2: Written Examination
Shortlisted candidates will appear for a written exam designed to assess their knowledge and skills relevant to the specific job profile.
Phase 3: Document Verification, Trade Test, and Medical Examination
Document Verification: Candidates who clear the written exam must present original documents for verification.
Trade Test: Applicants for trade-specific roles (e.g., SMT Workshop or Veterinary Staff) will need to demonstrate their practical skills through a trade test.
Medical Examination: Candidates who successfully pass the earlier stages will undergo a medical examination to ensure they meet the health standards required for their positions.
The revised process aims to streamline the recruitment system and apply uniform evaluation criteria for all candidates. The BSF has clarified that while these changes enhance the selection procedure, all other terms and conditions of the recruitment process remain unchanged.
