Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A 3-year-old was brutally attacked by a rabid dog in Madhya Pradesh’s Sultan Garhi village on Sunday morning.
The victim, identified as Aastha, was playing near the fields at around 5:30 am on Sunday when the dog suddenly attacked her.
According to family members, the dog bit her on the upper lip and forehead, tearing away skin and flesh.
The dog then clamped its jaws around her face and began dragging her away.
Aastha’s aunt, who was nearby, saw the dog attacking the child and rushed to save her. She grabbed a stick and chased the dog, shouting for help. Other villagers soon joined, and this is when the dog ran away, leaving the child behind.
Child suffers severe injuries
Aastha was severely injured and her family rushed her to the district hospital in Morena. Due to the seriousness of her wounds, she was referred to the super specialty hospital in Gwalior.
Doctors there reported deep injuries on her lips and near her eye. Although she was taken to the operation theatre, her critical condition delayed the surgery. Doctors plan to operate on her Monday morning, and she may require more than 25 stitches.
The girl’s father, Rahul Prajapati, informed that Aastha had gone to the fields with her aunt as usual. While the aunt was busy with work, the dog appeared and attacked suddenly.
The family is praying for Aastha’s speedy recovery.
