New Delhi. England cricket team head coach Brendon McCullum has broken his silence on the Convention Substitute controversy in the fourth T20 International match against India. In this match, India had fielded Harshit Rana in place of Shivam Dubey, which the England team had strongly protested.
Conversation with referee after match
Former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum revealed that after the match he interacted with the match referee Jawagal Srinath on the decision. However, during this time there was no heating. In fact, the England team believed that Harshit Rana is not a player as Shivam Dubey, which raised questions on the fairness of the game.
England’s objection and response
Harshit Rana played an important role in India’s victory by dismissing three England batsmen, which won the match by 15 runs and also won the series. England expressed displeasure over the decision, but had to accept the referee’s decision.
Brendon McCullum’s statement
McCullum said in a conversation with The Guardian,
“We disagreed with Jawagal Srinath on the decision as to why a different -style player was allowed to play in the same role. I talked to him after the match, which was a mild conversation. It did not include any emotions, but an attempt to understand how to reach this decision. We disagreed with respect and went ahead. ”
Jose Butler also raised questions
England captain Jose Butler also strongly criticized the decision. He said in a sarcastic tone in the press conference,
“Either Shivam Dubey suddenly increased his bowling pace by 25 miles per hour or Harshit Rana’s batting improved.”
McCullum was surprised by Dubey’s return in the fifth match
McCullum also said that he was surprised when he saw Shivam Dubey playing in the fifth T20 match. They said,
“I was a little shocked, because there was worry about the player’s health. Convention is taken seriously in the sports world, and there is still a lot to know about it. Especially when you have to face bowlers who bowl at a speed of 90 mph. When the Indian medical team allowed Dubey to play, I am sure they will be completely satisfied with this decision. ”
England preparing to return to ODI series
England will now land with the intention of returning to the ODI series after a 1-4 crushing defeat in the T20 series. The series is also seen as the preparation of the 2025 Champions Trophy for both teams. Jose Butler’s team is fully prepared to perform its best in this series.
