Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile construction unit at the Defense Industrial Corridor in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was present in this program. The unit aims to manufacture 80 to 100 missiles per year.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi said that terrorism is a dog’s tail, which will never be straight. He has to answer in the same language. We gave two hundred acres of land for the BrahMos missile. Now the construction of BrahMos will start here. In Operation Sindoor, you must have seen the strength of the BrahMos missile, if not seen, then ask the people of Pakistan what is the strength of the BrahMos missile? The Prime Minister has announced that now any terrorist incident will be considered a war and remember, the problem will not be resolved until we completely eliminate terrorism. Now the time has come to crush it, he appealed to all of us to join the campaign simultaneously under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
He said that those who believe in the language of love have to be ready to answer in their language. India has given a message to the world through Operation Sindoor. The aerospace started in Lucknow will be built 80 to 100 BrahMos missiles every year in Integration and Testing Facility. Apart from this, 100 to 150 next generation BrahMos missiles will also be produced every year. These missiles are to be built within a year.
Till now fighter aircrafts like Sukhoi could take only one BrahMos missile, but now they will be able to carry three next generation BrahMos missiles. The front -generation BrahMos missile will have a firepower of more than 300 kilometers and weighs 1,290 kg, while the current BrahMos missile weighs 2,900 kg.
Built at a cost of Rs 300 crore in Lucknow, this manufacturing unit will construct a range of 290 to 400 km and a maximum speed of Mac 2.8. BrahMos is a joint venture of India and Russia. This missile can be launched by ground, sea or air. It follows the guidance system ‘stain and forget’.
The manufacturing unit was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of the Defense Industrial Corridor initiative during the 2018 Global Investor Summit. Then, in 2021 it was laid the foundation stone. The BrahMos missiles have been jointly developed by India’s DRDO and Russia’s NPO Machrostroenia and are considered important for India’s defense system.
