Wrestler and martial arts champion Ritu Phogat was in Mumbai to participate in a programme by spiritual organisation, Brahma Kumaris, Malad West, on Wednesday.

Phogat shared her thoughts on sports and motherhood, saying that everyone says that sports career for women ends after they have a a baby. “But I accepted this challenge and started training only two weeks after delivery, I came back to the field. My husband is very supportive of me,” she told the audience who had gathered at the atrium of a shopping mall.She said that the Phogat sisters’ journey was no easy.  “At the age of children playing, we sisters chose the difficult path. For how many years, we have not seen what a four o’clock in the morning sleep is. Parents used to say – if it was so easy, everyone would be here. Find your fault and fix it. Don’t give up, learn to move forward. You can learn from victory and defeat,” she said, adding that meditation and her faith in the Brahma Kumaris keeps her going.

Brahma Kumari Neerja said that this is the moment of perseverance and of  faith. “Today, there are such celebrities among us who will share their moments of success.Speakers talked about meditation as a kind of counselling; it increases understanding and concentration, the path to success.The programme featured a meditation commentary and a quiz programme conducted by Brahma Kumar Sanjay. Film and T V actor Rajiv Bhardwaj also expressed his thoughts and praised Ritu and Brahma Kumari Neerja.
