Fortune Global 500 company and one of India’s leading oil and gas companies, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has provided contracts for the development of 100 MW of 50-50 MW of 100 MW in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. The company announced this today.
This initiative of the company is a major step in the strategy of changing renewable energy of BPCL and reducing dependence on imported fossil-based energy. The contract letter (LOA) has been sent to Messrs Suzalon Energy Limited for the 50 MW wind power project in Madhya Pradesh and Messrs Integram Energy Infrastructure Limited for the 50 MW project in Maharashtra. These projects are expected to be completed within two years.
These wind power plants will meet the captive power requirements of BPCL’s Mumbai Refinery (Maharashtra) and Bina Refinery (Madhya Pradesh), allowing traditional fossil-based energy sources to be replaced with clean, renewable wind energy. The initiative is an important milestone in BPCL’s renewable energy roadmap, which imagines 10 GW’s ambitious portfolio by 2040. These efforts are in line with the comprehensive target of BPCL to become a pure zero energy company in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2040.
