Rahul Gandhi demands Gautam Ad.’s arrest

Earlier today, speaking to reporters outside the Parliament building, Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, commented on the Ad. Group’s denial of bribery allegations made by a U.S. court involving industrialist Gautam Ad..

Gandhi demanded Ad.’s arrest in connection with these allegations. His remarks followed a statement by Ad. Green Energy Limited (AGEL), which dismissed the accusations made by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission against the Group’s founder Gautam Ad., his nephew Sagar Ad., and AGEL’s MD and CEO Vineet Jain. The rebuttal was filed with stock exchanges earlier today.

“Do you think Ad. is going to accept the charges? Of course not; he will deny them. The fact remains that he must be arrested, as we’ve demanded,” Gandhi stated. He criticized the government, alleging it was shielding Ad., and highlighted the disparity in how individuals are treated under the law. “People are being jailed for minor offenses, while this gentleman (Gautam Ad.), accused in the U.S. of corruption involving thousands of crores, walks free. He should be in jail, but the government is protecting him,” he said.
