ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year 2024: India’s legendary bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been chosen the best Test cricketer of the year 2024. He won the title by defeating Joe Root of England, Harry Brook and Kamindu Mendis of Sri Lanka. Bumrah has been popular for his aggressive bowling. He took 71 wickets in 13 Test matches in 2024 at an average of 14.92 and a strike rate of 30.16.
Team India lost 1-3 in the recently played Border-Gavaskar Trophy. But 31 year old Bumrah was the player of the series. He took 32 wickets in the five-Test series.
Batsman scoring most runs on route
Experienced batsman Root scored 1556 runs in 17 Test matches last year at an average of 55.57. This includes six centuries and five half-centuries. Along with this, he was the batsman who scored the most test runs in 2024. Brook scored 1100 runs in 12 test matches at an average of 55. In which he scored four centuries and three half-centuries. Mendis scored 1049 runs in 9 test matches at an average of 74.92. The Sri Lankan player scored five centuries and three half-centuries.
This wicket is most special for Bumrah
After winning the award, Bumrah said, ‘I am very happy to win the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year Award. The Test format has always been close to my heart. I always want to play in this format. Last year was special for me. In which I learned and won a lot. The wicket of England batsman Ollie Pope was the most special. The momentum changed because of this wicket. It is noteworthy that in Visakhapatnam, Jasprit Bumrah had clean bowled Pope by throwing an aggressive yorker.
