Actress Katrina Kaif has always been vocal about her love for Christmas. With her British roots and Indian upbringing, her Christmas celebrations are a delightful blend of both cultures.
Katrina reminisced about her cherished Christmas celebrations during her time in England. Despite a relatively brief stay, the festive season holds a special place in her heart, filled with heart-warming memories of family gatherings. “Christmas was always about us six sisters,” Katrina says. “It was the most important time of the year because it brought us together, especially as we lived apart while growing up.”
The actress fondly recalled the joyous atmosphere and the unique bond shared among her siblings. “The festival brings back some of the warmest and happiest memories for me,” she adds. When asked about specific traditions or activities, Katrina revealed a humorous anecdote. “There was always a fight about who was going to cook the Christmas feast,” she shares. This playful rivalry, she explained, added to the festive spirit and made the celebrations even more memorable.
In India, Katrina celebrates Christmas with her family and friends. The festivities typically involve decorating the Christmas tree, exchanging gifts, and enjoying a delicious Christmas feast. She often shares glimpses of these celebrations on social media, showcasing the warmth and joy of the season. The celebrations in the UK are usually more traditional, with a focus on attending church services, carol singing, and spending quality time with loved ones. Katrina’s mother, Suzanne Turquotte, is actively involved in charity work, particularly during Christmas. She often organizes events and fundraisers to help underprivileged children.
Katrina adds, “Christmas is a time for family, love, and laughter. I love spending time with my loved ones and creating beautiful memories.”
She has also expressed her admiration for her mother’s charitable work. “My mother has always instilled in me the importance of giving back to the community. She is truly an inspiration,” exults Katrina in the spirit of the festive season.
Katrina compared the simple Christmas celebrations in India to the detailed one in the west. “Not many people celebrate Christmas In India. It is not as big as it is in the USA or UK. It is not what people really do. Out there it is huge. It is the largest celebration. Out there in the UK and US, it is bigger than the New Year Celebrations, The whole family gets together and everyone gets wonderful presents and that is the highlight of the year,” she avers.
The superstar remembers most of her Christmas presents. “I once got this wooden box and you put the pieces together and you get to make a house from it. You have to figure out which part fits in where. I have often got a lot of puzzles. It was fun doing all that,” she says. Eight years ago her mother Suzanne knitted a scarf for Katrina on Christmas and Katrina was stunned that people including her mother were still into knitting.
While Katrina may have had an early Christmas with her film Merry Christmas releasing in January 2024, she surely has some untold plans up her sleeve for this year.
As the Christmas bells ring out, Katrina’s heart fills with gratitude and love. She cherishes the memories of Christmas past and looks forward to creating new ones with her loved ones. Her story is a reminder that the true spirit of Christmas lies in the joy of giving, the warmth of family, and the power of love.
