Mumbai: To ensure public safety and maintain urban greenery, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a tree trimming drive in the R/South Ward, covering Kandivali East and West. The information was shared via X on Friday. The drive is scheduled from April 21 to April 26, 2025.

BMC officials have urged residents to cooperate by avoiding parking on roads scheduled for trimming during the six-day drive. Vehicles parked along these roads can obstruct the work and delay operations.

An X post shared by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation stated, “Tree trimming drive in R/South Ward (Kandivali East & West) from 21st to 26th April 2025. Please avoid parking on scheduled roads to help maintain cleanliness & safety. Your cooperation is appreciated.” The BMC has issued a detailed timetable listing the roads where tree trimming will take place during the week-long drive.

In Kandivali West, the roads identified for trimming include:

Trikamdas Road

Bunder Pakhadi Road

Shantilal Modi Road

In Kandivali East, the tree trimming will be carried out on:

Corporation Bank Road

Suffire Height Road

Thakur Stadium Road

Thakur Village

Residents and motorists are requested to avoid parking their vehicles on these roads during the scheduled period. Parked vehicles may obstruct the trimming work and pose risks to both workers and property.

Tree trimming is essential to the city’s maintenance efforts, especially before the monsoon season, to prevent accidents caused by falling branches or overgrown trees obstructing visibility and electric lines. The initiative also aims to improve overall cleanliness and aesthetics in the locality.

BMC To Post Tree Trimming Schedule On Social Media From April 21

One of the most important pre-monsoon measures in Mumbai is the trimming and removal of weak or overhanging tree branches to reduce the risk of tree falls during heavy rainfall.

This year, the BMC has planned to share the tree trimming schedule in advance by displaying it at all ward offices and posting it on its official social media platforms. The drive is scheduled to begin on April 21.
