Blinkit, a widely-used e-commerce app, released data on how India celebrated the New Year 2025 with huge orders. It showed customers not only bringing home snacks and cold drinks to party but many more items through the instant delivery platform. For instance, it showed a purchase of more than one lakh condoms across the country along with thousands of ‘ENO’ packets, an acidity relief product brand.
Condoms, lemons, ice cubes…
On New Year’s Eve, Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa shared a couple of posts on social media to hint at how people welcomed 2025 with party orders that included condoms, lemons, ice cubes, mineral water, chips and snacks.
Taking to X, Dhindsa informed netizens what customers added to their cart last night, announcing that the occasion helped the delivery platform hit milestones.
2,34,512 packets of Aloo Bhujia
On December 31, by 8 PM, Blinkit stores sold off several packs of snacks and party items. The statistics shared by the Blinkit CEO suggested that 2,34,512 packets of Aloo Bhujia, 45,531 cans of tonic water, 6,834 packets of ice cubes, 1003 lipsticks, and 762 lighters were already out of their shelves.
More than one lakh condom packs sold by 10 PM
Of the huge list, what caught the attention of internet users the most was the number of condoms purchased on the app. The X post went viral for mentioning that 1,22,356 packs of condoms were already sold out before 10 PM.
More than eight lakh X users viewed the post as it rolled out on the social media platform. Seeing the interest of netizens towards how many condoms were ordered on New Year’s Eve, Dhindsa also specified the different flavours of condoms purchased by customers. The chocolate flavour of the condom topped the list, followed by people opting for the strawberry flavour.
