Mumbai: The Bandra-Kurla Complex police have booked four persons, including a US visa hopeful and three agents, for allegedly trying to secure a visa with fake documents.
According to the FIR lodged on December 16, the US consulate had invited visa applicants for interviews. During the discussion, Nikunj Patel, a resident of Gujarat, submitted his documents, including salary slips and bank statements. However, the consulate authorities grew suspicious of the papers’ authenticity. Upon verification, they learnt that the documents were fake.
Subsequently, an inquiry was initiated and the ensuing investigation revealed that Patel had obtained the fake documents from agents named Sonal, Uday Rawal, Piyush Patel and an unidentified individual. They have been booked for cheating and joint criminal liability.
