Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Nishikant Dubey on Saturday gave a controversial statement that if the laws are made only by the Supreme Court, the Parliament House should be closed. Dubey posted this comment on the social media platform ‘X’ without any additional interpretation, which led to a debate in political circles. His remarks came to light during the ongoing Supreme Court hearing on the constitutionality of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, which was passed by Parliament earlier this month.
The Supreme Court had questioned some controversial provisions of this law, after which the Central Government agreed not to implement these provisions till the next hearing. Additionally, the Supreme Court recently set a deadline to decide on the Bills sent to the President, which has increased the dispute. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has disagreed on this decision.
At the same time, opposition parties have appreciated the proceedings of the Supreme Court in the Waqf (Amendment) Act case. However, on the statement of BJP MP Dubey, the BJP immediately dismissed its pulses and said that this statement is not of the party, but Dubey’s personal view. Party President JP Nadda made it clear through a tweet that the BJP does not agree with the statements made on the judiciary and the Chief Justice of the country. “We have directed these two leaders and all to avoid making such statements,” he said.
It is worth noting that Nishikant Dubey, MP from Godda in Jharkhand, often plays a leading role in clarifying his sharp statements and BJP’s political situation. He clearly takes the BJP’s stand in the Lok Sabha and is also prominent in attacking rivals.
