Kolkata: A day after Supreme Court upheld the verdict of Calcutta High Court of cancelling the entire panel of 2016 SSC examination, former High Court justice and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Abhijit Gangopadhyay feels that there is still a way of finding the genuine candidates by creating a committee.

Talking to the media, Gangopadhyay said that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee should create a committee in order to differentiate genuine candidates from tainted ones.

“Didi should create a committee where she can keep the education minister as the chairman. Can keep lawyer Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya, can keep me, lawyer Firdous Shamim, someone from SSC and also their lawyer and we can segregate the genuine candidates after which we can again appeal to the Supreme Court a review petition and pray that the genuine candidates can get back their jobs,” said the BJP MP.

CPI (M) Rajya Sabha MP and lawyer Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya said that such a recommendation by the former Justice of Calcutta High Court is not possibly in keeping with the law.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan bandhopadhyay said that the BJP MP is mentioning such things for political gains.

Meanwhile, opposition parties were seen hitting the streets demanding resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the SSC recruitment scam.

Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said, “Abhijit Gangopadhyay is a former Justice. He must be knowing ways of segregating the fake and genuine candidates. The way Mamata Banerjee insulted Gangopadhyay but not taking his surname properly is appalling. Just because he is a Hindu for which she had insulted him. If he was from any other religion then she would not have dared.”
