Delhi Assembly Elections: Delhi Assembly elections are to be held on 5 February 2025. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Parvesh Verma is getting into legal trouble one after the other. After the FIR on the charge of distributing shoes, the Election Commission has registered another case against Pravesh Verma. The returning officer has lodged an FIR on the basis of the video of distribution of sarees at Pravesh Verma’s house.

New Delhi District Election Officer has informed on his X handle that a new case has been registered against Pravesh Verma. It has been told that a video surfaced on YouTube. In which it was alleged that sarees were being distributed at the house of Pravesh Verma, BJP candidate from New Delhi seat. The code of conduct has been violated.

Based on the evidence the officer lodged a complaint with the police

Giving more information about this, the Election Commission said that, as soon as we received this information, we immediately sent a flying squad to the incident site. No such activity was observed at the site during investigation. However, it can be clearly seen in the video that sarees were being distributed. On the basis of this evidence, the Returning Officer of New Delhi seat lodged an official complaint with the police. The police have been asked to investigate the entire matter and initiate action under relevant sections of the Representation of the People Act and other laws.

 

Allegations that the election system is not acting are baseless

Aam Aadmi Party’s allegations of not taking action against Pravesh Verma have also been answered. The Commission said that the allegations of non-functioning of the election system are baseless. The District Election Office is committed to strictly enforcing the code of conduct and any violations are being actively addressed.
