The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Central Disciplinary Committee on Wednesday expelled Vijayapura MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal for six years over repeated disciplinary violations.

In a letter to the Vijayapura MLA, Om Pathak, Secretary of the Disciplinary Committee, said, “The Central Disciplinary Committee of the party has considered your response to the show-cause notice dated February 10, 2025, and has taken serious note of your repeated violations of party discipline, despite your assurances of good behavior and conduct in response to earlier show-cause notices.”

“It has accordingly been decided to expel you for six (6) years with immediate effect from the primary membership of the party, and you stand removed from any party position that you may have held until now,” the letter added.

Notably, in February this year, the BJP had issued a second show-cause notice to Basangouda Patil Yatnal, seeking an explanation for his continued criticism of the party’s state leadership.

He was issued the notice after he repeatedly criticized Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra and former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa.

Yatnal had alleged that Vijayendra has close ties with Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar.

He had also demanded the removal of BJP veteran BS BS Yediyurappa from the party.
