Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The BJP corporator of ward 26, Lal Bahadur Verma, was booked for abusing and threatening an Indore Municipal Corporation employee, an official said on Sunday.
The victim said that the corporator asked him for earthmovers and dumpers to carry out illegal work.
Tukoganj police station in-charge Jitendra Singh said that Harshit Lodhi, an IMC employee, lodged a complaint with Tukoganj police stating that he is posted as chief health inspector of zone no. 9 in Pancham Ki Phel.
On December 13, when he was on duty at the zonal office, he received a call from ward 26 corporator Lal Bahadur Verma around 5:30 pm, and the corporator asked him for earthmovers and dumpers for carrying out illegal work.
Harshit denied his request following which the corporator began to abuse and threaten him. The police registered a case against the accused under sections 308 (2) (extortion), and 331(2) (criminal intimidation) of BNS and further investigation is underway.

A controversy arose within the BJP following an event for the unveiling of Jiwaji Rao Scindia’s statue at Jiwaji University in Gwalior.
Local leaders, including Gwalior MP Bharat Singh Kushwaha and Mayor Shobha Singh Sikrwar, were reportedly excluded from the invitation, which upset many. This omission sparked concerns about the party’s unity, with questions raised regarding internal divisions within the BJP.
