M.pur violence: Now the BJP government seems to be burning in the fire of violence in M.pur. The troubles of the BJP government led by Nongthombam Biren Singh in M.pur are increasing continuously. Many MLAs did not attend the Chief Minister’s meeting and internal strife increased in BJP. 19 out of 37 BJP MLAs did not attend the NDA meeting chaired by Chief Minister Biren Singh on Tuesday (November 19). These MLAs include leaders from both communities.
Accused of murder of six people of Meitei community
According to reports, in the NDA meeting a resolution was passed to take full force action against ‘Kuki terrorists’. It is suspected that militants have killed six people of Meitei community in a shelter built for displaced people in Jirabam. There are reports that the CM Secretariat has sent notices to 11 NDA members to remain absent from the meeting. Ministers are also included in these members. However, this has not been officially confirmed yet.
Clouds of crisis over BJP government
Chief Minister Biren Singh has issued a video message and promised to take all possible steps for the safety of the people. He said, ‘We will protect people without any discrimination of any community.’ A letter was sent to all BJP MLAs and its allies for a meeting on Sunday to take appropriate action regarding this violence. A few hours before this, Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangam’s party NPP had withdrawn support from the NDA government. NPP said, ‘The Chief Minister has failed to resolve the crisis. After this, clouds of crisis have engulfed the BJP government.
M.pur assembly status
NDA has the support of 53 MLAs in the 60-member M.pur Assembly. The alliance includes seven MLAs from the NPP, five from the Naga People’s Front (NPF), one from the JD(U) and three independent MLAs, one of whom is from the Kuki community. Of the 37 BJP MLAs, seven are from the Kuki community and all of them were missing from the meeting. While four out of seven NPP MLAs participated in the debate, the party no longer supports the Biren Singh government.
