Of the total 699 candidates in the Delhi Assembly elections, 96 women are in the fray. Political parties are making every possible effort to attract women voters. In the last election, i.e. 5 years ago, out of 672 candidates, 76 women were in the electoral fray.

BJP and AAP have fielded nine women candidates each.

This time, among the three major political parties, BJP and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have fielded nine women candidates each, while Congress has given tickets to seven women candidates. This time, all three parties have fielded more women candidates than in the 2020 assembly elections.

AAP’s leading female candidate

Prominent women candidates of Aam Aadmi Party include Chief Minister Atishi, Pooja Balyan, Pramila Tokas and Rakhi Birlan. Apart from Atishi, Aam Aadmi Party has also re-nominated Rakhi Birlan, Pramila Tokas, Dhanwanti Chandela, Bandana Kumar and Sarita Singh.

New faces of AAP

This time, the new faces of Aam Aadmi Party also include Anjana Paracha and Pooja Balyan, wife of MLA Naresh Balyan. Pooja Baliyan is contesting from Uttam Nagar assembly seat. Let us tell you that Naresh Balyan was recently arrested for his alleged links with gangster Kapil Sangwan.

Prominent faces of BJP and Congress

B.J.P. Among the women candidates of Congress, Rekha Gupta, Poonam Sharma, Shikha Rai and Priyanka Gautam are prominent, while among the seven women candidates of Congress, Alka Lamba, Ariba Khan, Ragini Nayak and Aruna Kumari are prominent. Voting will take place in Delhi on February 5, and the results will be declared on February 8.
