Kannauj: A video of two drunk men from Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj allegedly under the influence of alcohol or Bhang are seen howling and crying over a broken statue of Mahatma Gandhi has gone viral on social media. They are seen crying inconsolably after watching the statue which was demolished in an accident.
The video is from Friday, Holi day when Bhang is consumed as part of the festivals tradition. In the video a mid-aged man and an elderly man is seen howling and crying over a broken statue of Mahatma Gandhi. In the video the duo is seen sitting under the statue in between of a busy road and crying holding each other’s shoulders.
The young man is sobbing and saying “Mere Gandhi Ji chale gaye,” which roughly translates to My Gandhi has gone.
The men are also seen catching-hold of a biker and holding him tightly and crying. The young intoxicated man is seen collecting dust from the ground and putting it on the head of the elderly man multiple times.
While the drama continues, commuters and passerby can be heard giggling at the duo.
How Did The Statue Break?
A major accident took place on Thursday night at Mahatma Gandhi Chowk in Kannauj. The accident occurred when a truck loaded with ballast lost control while trying to save a car and collided with the Gandhi statue.
The statue was massively damaged in the accident. The incident took place around 11 pm. The truck was going towards Kannauj after loading ballast from Auraiya. The impact of the collision was so much that the truck overturned.
