King Brihadratha, the king of Magadha, was deprived of child happiness with his two queens. Due to the strong desire to get children, he served the sage Chandrakoukhik. Rishi, pleased with his devotion, gives him a fruit (apple) and says that feeding it to the queen will attain a son.
The king divided the fruit into two parts and fed both his queens. As a result, both queens conceived.

When the time came, the two queens gave birth to half a child. The upper part of the body was born from the womb of one and the lower part from the womb of the other. Seeing this bizarre and frightening scene, she was scared and thrown both the pieces into the forest.
The magician named ‘Jara’ did life
There was an old woman or magician named ‘Jara’ in the forest. When he saw both these pieces, he connected him to his yoga force and magical powers. As soon as the pieces were added, life came in the baby.
Name ‘Jarasandha’
When this news reached King Brihadratha, he brought that living child to the palace and made his successor. The child was named ‘Jarasandha’, which means – ‘Jaraded by Zara’,

Jarasandha became a very powerful and ambitious king. He was an enemy of Lord Krishna and had taken many kings captive. Finally, during the Mahabharata period, Bhima torn and slaughtered him under Krishna’s plan, because he could not be killed with any weapon – he was already connected to two parts.
