The BIMSTEC summit is being held in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. The Speaker of 7 countries including India is participating in this conference. Prime Minister Modi has played an important role in reviving BIMSTEC. It has taken several concrete steps to create a strong platform for regional cooperation. PM Modi made a big proposal
At the BIMSTEC summit, Prime Minister Modi proposed to link India’s UPI with the payment systems of BIMSTEC countries. He said in the conference that connecting UPI with the payment systems of the regional group will give a boost to trade and tourism. The Prime Minister also proposed to establish ‘BIMSTEC Chamber of Commerce’ and organize ‘BIMSTEC Business Summit’ every year.
‘Bangkok Vision 2030’ adopted
BIMSTEC is a regional initiative which includes India’s neighboring countries Thailand, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Leaders of India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Bhutan are participating at the BIMSTEC summit organized by Thailand. ‘Bangkok Vision 2030’ has been adopted at the BIMSTEC summit.
