PM Modi’s visit to attend BIMSTEC summit in Bangkok: There is a possibility of havoc in Myanmar and Thailand on 28 March 2025. According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the 7.7 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Sagiing region of Myanmar, which was 16 km from Mandalay. A few minutes later a second blow of 6.4 magnitude came. The shock shook not only Myanmar but also Bangkok, the capital of neighboring Thailand. The accident occurred when preparations were being made for the sixth BIMSTEC summit to be held on April 3-4 in Bangkok, in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also going to participate.

Prime Minister Modi will go to Thailand to attend BIMSTEC summit

Jaideep Majumdar, Secretary (East) in the Ministry of External Affairs, said on Friday, ‘Prime Minister Modi will go to Thailand to attend the sixth BIMSTEC summit. Prime Minister Modi will be on an official visit to Thailand from April 3 to 4. This will be the Prime Minister’s third visit to Thailand.

 

 

Prime Minister Modi will hold a bilateral meeting

Prime Minister Modi will hold a bilateral meeting with the Thai Prime Minister Fathongthare Shinavatra. This will be his second meeting with the Prime Minister of Thailand. Earlier, he met him during the ASEAN Summit on 11 October last year.

Jaideep Majmudar said, ‘There are historical bilateral relations, cultural and religious relations between India and Thailand. Thailand is a maritime neighbor of India. “This is a major partner in our act East policy and approach to the Indo-Pacific region, and also a major partner in BIMSTEC.”

Importance of BIMSTEC Conference

This summit to be held on 4 April in Bangkok will be held face-to-face after the fourth summit held in Kathmandu, Nepal at 2018. The 5th conference was held in March 2022 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Now the sixth conference is being organized, the theme of which will be ‘BIMSTEC, recently and open’.

 

The Ministry of External Affairs said that during this time there will be discussion on increasing regional cooperation. India is taking initiative in areas such as security, trade, investment, connectivity and human security in BIMSTEC. But after the earthquake, Bangkok’s status is questioning the preparations for the conference.

Prime Minister Modi will go to Sri Lanka on 4 April

After visiting Thailand, Prime Minister Modi will go to Sri Lanka. Foreign Secretary Vikram Egyptian said, “After the BIMSTEC summit in Bangkok, Prime Minister Modi will come on an official visit to Sri Lanka from 4 to 6 April at the invitation of Sri Lankan President Anura Kumar Disanayake.”

President Disanayak came to New Delhi in December 2024 on his first foreign trip after assuming the post of President and now Prime Minister Modi is going on a visit to Sri Lanka.
