Bihar News: Big Relief for Bihar: Doubling of Narkatiaganj-Darbhanga and Sitamarhi-Muzaffarpur railway line starts, approval of 130 crores

A great news has come to light about the railway connectivity of Bihar. East Central Railway has approved doubling of 255.5 km long railway line connecting Sitamarhi, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Narkatiaganj and Raxaul. A budget of Rs 130 crore has been approved under this project, which will increase the number of passenger trains, speed up the movement of goods trains and will get relief from the lethality of trains.

Which railway line will be doubled?

Two major routes will be doubled under this project:

• Narkatiaganj-Darbhanga (via Sitamarhi)

• Sitamarhi-Muzaffarpur (via Roney Saidpur)

This work is also considered important for areas bordering the Indo-Nepal border.

How long will work be completed?

According to railway officials, the target is to complete the doubling work from November/December 2025 to 2029. After the approval of the DPR, the tender process has started rapidly and the work will be done on a war footing.

What will be made in this doubling?

• 301 bridges and culverts, including 100 large bridges

• 176 Level Crossings

• It will take about 2 months to complete the survey work

• After this construction work will move rapidly

Role of MP

Sitamarhi MP Devesh Chandra Thakur said that the proposal was earlier in cold storage. But in view of the regional needs, he met Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and demanded that the project was re -activated, which was taken seriously and now it has been approved.
