Patna/New Delhi, 29 November (HS). The Government of Bihar is taking several far-reaching steps to establish the state as an important hub in India’s textile and leather industries. The most important thing is that while taking all these measures and steps, the government is emphasizing on sustainability. In this context, recently a high level team of the Industries Department visited various cities of Tamil Nadu.
The main objective of the team, led by Alok Ranjan Ghosh, Director, Industries Department, was to interact with leading textile producers and experts from Tiruppur and other cities and know about the various developments and use of technology taking place in the sector. Through interactions with these experts, the team learned about the advanced technologies and processes being used in the textile industry that have given Tiruppur a global identity.
Emphasizing the importance of this visit and dialogue, Alok Ranjan Ghosh said that our visit to Tiruppur helped us gather all the information required to implement this successful model in Bihar. Our aim is to create a conducive environment for the textile industry in the state through infrastructure, policy support and various types of incentive schemes and to give the state a new identity in this sector. This will also create many employment opportunities in the state.”
This team also expressed the government’s commitment towards the environment. The team paid special attention to those aspects that ensure environmental protection and are in line with the environment policy of the Government of Bihar. For this reason the delegation also visited R.pet, Tamil Nadu to study the operations of the Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) plant.
Officials at R.tec Common Effluent Treatment Plant highlighted its ability to make tannery waste water reusable and reuse 85% of it. Such innovative processes are very encouraging for the emerging leather sector of Bihar. The team of Industries Department of Government of Bihar and officials of Bihar State Pollution Control Board met Mr. Selvam, Executive Director, Council of Leather Exports (CLE), Chennai (Tamil Nadu) and discussed the opportunities for this industry in Bihar.
Team R.K. Industries, a 50 year old apparel manufacturing company that caters to leading global brands. Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) has recently allotted a 72,000 sq ft plug and play shed to this company in Sikandarpur Industrial Area of Bihta in Patna. This shows favorable conditions for investment in Bihar.
The Government of Bihar is committed to accelerating industrial growth, providing an enabling ecosystem and attracting top-tier manufacturers to the state. By observing the successful model and implementing it in the state, Bihar is likely to get a new identity on the national and global industrial stage.
