The fierce battle over seat sharing within the Grand Alliance in Bihar has intensified. Vikas Human Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahni has announced that his party will contest 60 seats. Earlier, the Congress had created panic in the grand alliance by demanding 70 seats, and now this announcement of Sahni has increased concern for Tejashwi Yadav.

The decision was taken at the two -day National Executive meeting of VIP in Valmikinagar.

Increased tussle over seat sharing in Grand Alliance

There was already a dispute between Congress and RJD over seat sharing in the Grand Alliance.

  • The Congress does not seem ready to contest in less than 70 seats.
  • Now Mukesh Sahni’s VIP has announced to contest 60 seats.

If both Congress and VIP are adamant on their demands, then it can be difficult for RJD to balance seats.

VIP chief Mukesh Sahni said that his party will play a decisive role in 150 seats in Bihar.

  • The party will organize 50 big election meetings.
  • All districts are divided into 8 zones, and office bearers will be appointed.
  • Candidates will be helped by collecting a party fund of Rs 10 crore.
  • The movement will continue on the issue of reservation.

Mukesh Sahni said:
“We are not going to ask for tickets, not asking for tickets. We have 8-10% vote bank. “

If the Grand Alliance government is formed, VIP as Deputy CM?

Earlier, Mukesh Sahni had said that if the government of the Grand Alliance is formed:

  • Tejashwi Yadav will be the Chief Minister.
  • There will be two deputy CMs in the state, one of which will be of VIP.

But now after the announcement of contesting 60 seats, there is a possibility of further increasing seat sharing in the Grand Alliance.

VIP performance in 2020 assembly elections

VIP was part of NDA in the 2020 Bihar assembly elections.

  • The party contested 11 seats.
  • Winned 4 seats.
  • However, Mukesh Sahni himself lost the election from Simri Bakhtiyarpur seat.

He later broke ties with the NDA and joined the Grand Alliance.

Is the threat of breakdown in the Grand Alliance?

  • The Congress is demanding 70 seats.
  • VIP announced to contest 60 seats.
  • RJD may have to reduce its seats.

Now it has to be seen how Tejashwi Yadav handles this tussle and what is the equation of seats in the grand alliance.
