Assembly elections are to be held in Bihar this year, and political movements have intensified before the elections. Many speculations are being made regarding possible changes in the politics of the state. Recently, RJD MP and Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Misa Bharti gave further fuel to these discussions with her statement. Misa said that her doors are always open for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and also called him a guardian.

Misa Bharti’s statement and political stir

On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, Misa Bharti said,
“Nitish Kumar is our guardian. If he wants to come, he is welcome. Nothing is impossible in politics.”

After this statement, the discussion intensified in political circles whether Nitish Kumar is thinking of joining hands with RJD once again.

BJP’s counterattack: RJD is daydreaming

BJP leaders reacted strongly to Misa Bharti’s statement. BJP described it as “day dreaming” and said that RJD’s efforts were futile.

Tejashwi Yadav refuted the speculations

RJD leader and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav tried to put an end to the ongoing speculation after Misa Bharti’s statement.

  • He told the media during his Karyakarta Samvad Yatra:
“There is going to be no change now. There will be direct elections, and the public’s decision will be paramount for us.”
  • Taking aim at the BJP, Tejashwi said that “DK tax is being collected” in the state and proof of the same will be put forward soon.

Tej Pratap Yadav’s strict stance

After Misa Bharti’s statement, Lalu Prasad Yadav’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav took a tough stand against Nitish Kumar.

  • Tej Pratap said,
“Nitish Kumar will not enter Rabri residence. I don’t feel like inviting them.”
  • This statement shows the conflict of ideologies within RJD also.

Rabri residence banquet and absence of Nitish

Nitish Kumar further strengthened the speculations by not attending the Dahi-Chuda banquet organized at Rabri residence on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.

  • Misa Bharti termed it as normal and said,
“Auspicious works begin after Kharmas. Nitish Kumar is our guardian, and our doors are always open for him.”
  • At the same time, Tej Pratap Yadav denied this and gave a strong statement against Nitish.

What does the politics of Bihar say?

Alliances and political equations have always been unpredictable in Bihar politics.

  • Nitish Kumar’s record:
    • JDU chief Nitish Kumar had contested the elections in 2015 by forming a grand alliance with RJD and Congress.
    • However, in 2017, he broke the grand alliance and joined BJP.
  • Current Status:
    • The possibility of RJD and JDU coming together again cannot be ruled out, but Tej Pratap Yadav’s stance makes it difficult.

Relationship between BJP and JDU

The alliance between BJP and JDU has also turned sour many times.

  • BJP is making internal strategies to weaken Nitish Kumar.
  • Nitish Kumar’s continuous soft attitude towards RJD has also brought this alliance under doubt.

What does the public mood say?

The people of Bihar are ready to give their verdict in the upcoming elections.

  • Issues of unemployment, law and order, and development will play an important role in the elections this time.
  • Whatever the political equations may be, the public inclination will decide the direction of Bihar politics.
