Pune: Big Update On Shivajinagar To Hinjawadi Metro; Raj Bhavan Goves Final Piece Of Land, Trial Run Expected Soon | @sameerdontulwar

In a good news for all the Punekars eagerly waiting for the Maan-Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar Metro Line-3 project, all the land required for it has been made available, and now the work of this project is set to gain further momentum.

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has transferred 100 percent of the land to the metro concessionaire Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd. Meanwhile, with 82 percent of the work completed, the project has reached a significant milestone, and the trial run will be held soon.

This metro project is 23.203 km long and is being implemented on the basis of Public-Private Partnership (PPP). The project was approved by the government on February 9, 2018. So far, 83 percent of the work of this project has been completed.

The project required 263.78 sq. m. of land near the Raj Bhavan office in the Pune University area. A proposal was submitted for this in November 2022. With the approval of the transfer of this land by the Raj Bhavan office, now the entire land required for the metro project is available.

Punekars wait eagerly for Puneri Metro

This important milestone will give momentum to the Pune Metro Line-3 project. The way has been paved for the launch of a new travel facility for Pune residents, with the project being operational soon.

As the city continues to face troubles due to heavy traffic congestion, Punekars traveling from Pimpri Chinchwad to Pune are finding themselves lucky, as they reach their destination within 35 minutes for a fare of just 35 rupees. Now, several thousands of Punekars are eagerly waiting for another route that will help resolve the traffic menace in the city: the Shivajinagar to Hinjawadi Metro.

The work on the Shivajinagar to Hinjawadi metro line is progressing at full speed, though it was delayed due to restrictions imposed during the election period and breaks for VIP movement. The metro will help resolve the traffic issue in Hinjawadi once the line opens. Earlier, it was said that the line would start by summer. This 23.3 km-long Line 3 will not only enhance daily commutes but also boost development and ease traffic congestion across the city.

Meanwhile, in good news for commuters, Maha Metro and PMRDA are in talks to construct a foot overbridge (FOB) to connect the Civil Court and Shivajinagar Metro stations.

For the uninitiated, the Civil Court Metro station, which is already operational, lies 200m from the Shivajinagar Metro station, which will be the last station on the Hinjawadi line and is located near Kamgar Putla.

Currently, the Civil Court Metro station serves as the interchange between the Ramwadi, Vanaz lines, and now the FOB will add the Hinjawadi Metro line to the list.
