The Board of Control for Cricket in India has recently released the central contract list of women cricketers. The list of men’s team has not been announced yet, but already speculation has started before the announcement.
The list of women cricketers consists of 16 players, while the old list of male cricketers included the names of 30 players. A new news has come out that not all board members agree with the A+ category.
According to media reports, a list of central contracts has been prepared by the National Selection Committee. Team India head coach and BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia is also being advised to prepare this list. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jaspreet Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja are currently named in A+ category. But according to the new update, not all board members are currently in favor of retaining the players involved in the A+ category.
How is the selection in A+ category?
Some of the players playing in all three formats are in the A+ category. Since Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja have retired from T20 cricket, this is probably the reason why they are suspicious of being placed in the A+ category. But an influential person of BCCI believes that this list should be kept unchanged.
Ashwin out, promotes Akshar Patel
Ravichandran Ashwin will be removed from the BCCI contract list as he has retired from international cricket. Akshar Patel, who was recently appointed as the vice-captain of India’s T20 team, can be promoted from B category to A category. Shreyas Iyer has played 11 ODIs this season, his return to the Central Contract List is almost certain.
