Changes in UPI Rules: From February 1, the UPI users will not be able to transact on some IDs. The NPCI issued a notification directing banks and financial institutions not to accept the ID of special letters from 1 February. Users will now be able to make financial transactions only with an ID with alphanumeric characters.
In digital payment, 80 percent of the people are paying through UPI. UPI is also being used in large scale transactions from vegetable lorry. In view of the increasing trend of cybercrime, NPCI has issued this order.
NPCI notification
NPCI directed UPI operators to use alphanumeric characters for transaction IDs. The UPI transactions of those who do not follow this instruction will be blocked from February 1. The central system will not allow transactions from special characters IDs.
Banks have also been ordered
The National Payments Interface of India had previously advised to use alphanumeric characters instead of special characters for UPI ID. In this regard, banks have also been instructed to accept financial transactions only through UPI ID with alphasomeic letters.
