Big Investment in UP: Cabinet approval to semiconductor unit, Rs 3,700 crore will come

News India Live, Digital Desk: Big investment in up: The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved the establishment of a semiconductor unit in Uttar Pradesh under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), which would attract an investment of Rs 3,700 crore. The approved unit is a joint venture of HCL and Foxconn. The plant will manufacture display driver chips for mobile phones, laptops, automobiles, PCs and other devices with displays.

The plant has been designed by 20,000 wafers per month. Its production capacity is 36 million units per month.

The semiconductor industry is now taking shape across the country. World -class design facilities have been established in many states across the country. State governments are making vigorous efforts to promote design firms.

In 270 educational institutions and 70 startups, students and entrepreneurs are working on world class latest design technologies for the development of new products. The 20 products developed by these educational students are taped by SCL Mohali.

Today, an investment of Rs 3,700 crore will come in the new semiconductor unit approved.

As the country is moving forward in the semeconductor’s visit, eco system partners have also established their facilities in India. Applied Materials and Lam Research are the two largest equipment manufacturer. Both are now present in India. Merc, linde, air liquid, eenox and many other gas and chemical suppliers are gearing up for the development of our semiconductor industry.

A release by the Ministry of Electronics and IT states that the demand for semiconductor is increasing with the rapid growth of laptops, mobile phones, servers, medical equipment, power electronics, defense equipment and consumer electronics manufacturing in India, this new unit will carry forward the attitude of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji’s self -reliant India.
