A major tunnel accident has been reported in the Nagarakurranul district of Telangana. Six workers got caught in the rubble due to a part of a tunnel collapsing here. At present, the process of saving the workers has been started, efforts are still on to clarify whether the number of trapped laborers is 6 or 8.
There is a possibility of 6 to 8 laborers being trapped in debris
According to the information received, the accident occurred on Saturday in Nagarakurnool district of Telangana in the under construction section of Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC). Here a part of the canal roof collapsed, it is being told that the team of the construction company has gone inside the tunnel for assessment and is inspecting. A senior police officer told the agency that according to the information given by the company, 6 to 8 workers are expected to be stranded in the debris.
The Chief Minister ordered immediate assistance.
A statement has been issued by the Chief Minister’s Office in this regard. The statement said that many people were injured in the incident. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed the District Collector, Superintendent of Police and other officials to reach the spot for relief work. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, the state’s Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Government Advisor for Irrigation Affairs Adityanath Das and other irrigation officers have left for the scene by special helicopter.
Union Minister Kishan Reddy gave these instructions to the officials by tweeting.
On the other hand, Union Coal Minister Kishan Reddy has expressed concern over the accident and sought information about the cause of the accident and asked the officials to take out the people trapped safely. A release issued by his office said that he has also asked the officials to provide treatment to the injured.
