Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): In a bid to gain public confidence on incineration of UCC waste, there will be an online testing of nine pollutants and their results will be displayed at main gate of REEL in Pithampur. On January 6, the High Court had given six weeks’ time to state government for incineration of 337-MT UCC waste.

The state government has rolled out a comprehensive plan for confidence building and dispelling myths among masses about incineration of Union Carbide Corporation (UCC) chemical waste at REEL in Pithampur (Dhar district).

This plan was presented at meeting with chief secretary Anurag Jain at Mantralaya on Saturday. As per plan, day-to-day happenings regarding incineration will be shared.

Detailed information will be displayed about gases to be emitted on incineration and quantity of waste to be incinerated. There will be Continuous Ambient Air Quality Station (CAAQMS) and Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS).

Both are connected to MPPCB and CPCB portal. During trial in 2015, particulate solid waste, hydrogen chloride, sulpher dioxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen fluoride, nitrogen’s oxides, dioxins, fleuron and heavy metals were found within limit.
