Veteran fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has made a unique world record in T20 cricket. He has become the player to play again after missing the most matches for the same team.

He achieved this historical achievement during the IPL 2025 during the Chennai Super Kings vs. Royal Challengers Bangalore match. Bhuvi returned to RCB jersey after 238 matches, which is the longest gap for any player.

Bhuvi played for RCB after 16 years

35 -year -old Bhuvneshwar Kumar represented RCB after 5640 days. He earlier played for Bengaluru in 2009 during the Champions League. RCB bought him in the IPL 2024 mega auction for Rs 10.75 crore.

Players returning after missing the most matches (in T20 cricket):

  1. Bhuvneshwar Kumar-238 matches (RCB: 2009-2025)

  2. Karn Sharma-225 matches (RCB: 2009-2023)

  3. Mandeep Singh-206 matches (KKR: 2010-2023)

  4. Beni Hell-164 matches (Hampshire: 2011-2023)

  5. Shikhar Dhawan-155 matches (Delhi franchise: 2018-2019)

Match condition:

RCB defeated CSK by 50 runs at Chepock Stadium and won there after 17 years.

  • RCB score: 196/7 (20 overs)

  • CSK score: 146/8 (20 overs)

  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar: 3 overs, 20 runs, 1 wicket (Deepak Hooda – 4)

  • Josh Hazlewood: 3 wickets

  • Yash Dayal and Livingstone: 2-2 wickets

This is RCB’s second consecutive win and now the team will play their next match against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on 2 April.
