Landge wrote, “Urbanisation and real estate construction have significantly increased dust and air pollution in our city. This growing pollution is causing severe respiratory issues, especially for vehicle drivers, children, the elderly and pregnant women. To combat this pressing concern, I have submitted a petition to Maharashtra’s Environment Minister, Pankaja Tai Munde, urging immediate action.”

He listed eight key demands to address the issue, which include convening a meeting of the Environment Department’s high-level committee to implement concrete solutions, enforcing strict pollution control measures and immediately halting cement mix dust emissions, conducting frequent air pollution assessments and making reports publicly available, cleaning roads twice a day to reduce dust levels, taking strict action against vehicles violating pollution norms, using water tankers or air guns to suppress road dust, assessing the impact of pollution on citizens’ health and provide necessary healthcare services and ensuring proper care and regular watering of roadside trees.

“We need urgent and effective action to curb pollution and safeguard public health. I urge all stakeholders to join hands in making our city cleaner and healthier,” Landge concluded.
